International Lecture Series
Each year CIR presents two series, both consisting of three or four lectures, which address topics of current international interest. Speakers, typically from outside of New Mexico, are sought-after experts who often have provided background and commentary on nationally televised shows such as the PBS Lehrer Newshour. Speakers include academics, ambassadors, cabinet members, governors, and journalists. A question and answer period typically follows each lecture.
Our international themes are carefully selected to provide lecture attendees with background information and differing viewpoints that help put newspaper headlines in context. Recent topics have included “Foreign Policy Challenges for the New Administration,” (Winter, 2008); “Safety in a Nuclear World,” (Fall, 2007); and “Latin America: A New Course for the 21st Century?” (Winter 2007).
Lectures are open to everyone and members receive discounted admission. A greater price break is available to those purchasing an entire series at once.
